Hi, I’m Meghan! I am just your average twenty-something girl living in the Midwest (ok, so maybe I turn the big 3-0 in April, but for now “twenty-something” is still true). I am a newlywed and mom to the best little Westie dog, Charlie. By day, I am a CPA and work in corporate accounting at a public company. I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) and love sushi, wine and bad TV.
You might ask why I decided to start this blog. There are a variety of reasons, but the most important being that it is FUN! It is something that I am passionate it about and that I have always wanted to do. You see, deep in my heart of hearts, I wanted to major in journalism in college. However, my college-aged self was somehow more practical than my current-aged self and chose to major in accounting instead. I have messed around with the idea of having a blog on the side for quite some time, but could never quite commit. “I don’t have time. Accountants are too busy.” “I don’t know what to write about.” “People won’t like it.” Add in every other excuse you may think of, and I probably said it. Well, I am finally ready to do it. No excuses. I am making things happen in 2013.
So, here I am, starting this blog. I plan to take what I am passionate about and combine it with what I am knowledgeable about, and that gives you “Everyday Fashion and Finance.” I don’t know if that it is that I am almost thirty, or that I’ve just read so many fashion magazines and blogs, but I finally feel like I know how to shop. In the past, I was terrible. I wouldn’t go shopping that often, and then when I did, I would spend entirely too much. I would also spend it all in one store. I would end up with things I didn’t really love, so then this process would start again the following year since I had “no clothes.” Now, I know what I like and what I want, and I can take the time to find it at the right price point. I would buy the entire J Crew catalog if I could, but I can’t, and I know most other people can’t either. I love finding fantastic deals and “looks for less”, and that is some of what I will do on this blog. It is amazing how many comparable items are out there – you just have to find them! Don’t worry – I still love a good splurge, and sometimes things are worth the splurge, but a lot of times, they are not. I also want to challenge myself even more when it comes to shopping on a budget, and I will do that through this blog. I will also occasionally cover other budget-related items and tips besides fashion. It is the CPA in me, after all. I will probably make mistakes (we all encounter something we “just have to have”), and I will blog about that too. This is a place for budget-friendly fashion finds and advice. Fashion and beauty should be fun and make us feel good without putting us into credit card debt!
